The Licking County Family YMCA Sharks Swim Team is a year round YMCA and USA swimming program offering high quality coaching and technique instruction for all ages and abilities. The team competes in the Southeast Ohio/West Virginia YMCA Swimming League and in USA Swimming.

The program offers year round swimming training from the beginner to the elite level athlete. The main goal is to provide a positive and challenging environment that will stimulate the swimmer to excel to their true potential; utilizing the YMCA philosophy of  "building strong kids, strong families, and strong communities”.

Swimmers are placed into one of ten practice groups after a swim evaluation by one of the coaches.  LCFY Sharks swimmers from the 2009-2010 season and the Summer 2010 season have already been assigned to a practice group for the 2010-2011season.  You can view your group assignment by logging into your account on the website.

For swimmers new to the team or returning after an extended break, you will need to have a swim evaluation.  You will not be able to register for the Team without an evaluation.  These evaluations will be conducted August 24-26th at the indoor Evans Pool from 4:30-5:30 pm each evening.

Members of the LCFY Sharks Swim Team must also be members in good standing of the Licking County Family YMCA.  All YMCA membership fees and team fees must be paid prior to participation in practices or meets.  The YMCA does offer financial assistance (on a confidential basis) in financial harship situations. Refer to the YMCA website for further information on Financial Assistance.

IMPORTANT information about the Registration Process:

This registration is for the 30-week 2010-11 season, which will include both YMCA and USA meets.  It is the expectation that all swimmers will participate in meets during the season.  All Team members may participate in YMCA meets, however only registered USA swimmers may swim in USA meets.

Swimmers in the following groups are required to be USA members, and the cost of this membership has been included in the team fee paid to the YMCA:  Great Whites, Bronze Age Group, Bronze Senior, Silver, Gold, Platinum.  All other swimmers who would like to swim in USA meets will need to purchase a USA membership for an additional cost of $57.  The Parent Club will have a USA membership drive as soon as practices begin for the season.
